Is there any value left to using traditional marketing, or should we just focus solely on SEO? It seems that giving up on traditional marketing altogether would be a big shame, and a missed opportunity, but which one is actually the best? How much effect can you expect from both?
Traditional Marketing
There are many facets to traditional marketing. There is the printed press (newspapers, magazines, billboards, leaflets, bus stops etc), the televised press and the radio press. Each of these still has an important place in society, which cannot be denied. Although we are all becoming more and more focused on the internet, we still use public transportation, we still watch TV and we still read magazines and newspapers. Any exposure is good exposure and this cannot be denied.
SEO Marketing
SEO marketing is all about the internet. It is about getting your website found by people who are online. The ultimate goal is to achieve this by being on the first page of Google, but to do this, you essentially have to market your website through various other tools (social media, link building, ad words, pay per click and so on).
SEO vs Conventional Marketing
So which one is better? Essentially, it all depends on you and your business. If, for instance, you are a corner grocery store, having some online presence can be useful, but it is probably not the be all and end all of your existence, unless you also sell goods online. Someone who is checking out an area by using the internet, for instance, may want to be able to find you, or perhaps you can get listed as a point of interest on Google Maps. However, it is generally more important for people to find out you are there through traditional marketing.
If, on the other hand, you are an information blog or an ecommerce store, it is far more important to engage in excellent SEO tactics. You want to make sure that people who are online – which is your target demographic – are able to find you. Hence, you want to make sure that your site is advertised in as many online places as possible. However, you can also use some traditional marketing to grab the attention of those who are perhaps not online at that very moment. It would be even better, in that case, if they have a smartphone with them that allows them to navigate straight to your website. To know more details about SEO follow this link: local seo marketing
